Description
How-to cultivate sprouts: Rinse the seeds in a strainer and place on a shallow dish. Rinse the seeds twice a day with fresh, cool tap water (not cold water). Place the dish in a bright, well-lit area (avoid direct sunlight) and allow the seeds to germinate.
Flavor: Refreshing yet slightly nutty and tart. Alfalfa sprouts may also be referred to as lucerne.
Use: After a quick rinse, sprinkle raw sprouts on bread, salad or in soups. Add to stir-fry but only steam for a minute or two.
How-to cultivate microgreens: Place soil on a dish. Sow the seeds as evenly as possible and keep moist. Seeds should be thoroughly watered at least once a day (especially the first few days). Only harvest the leaves or stems. The roots are generally not consumed.
