Description
Tomatillos prefer a warm, sheltered location and should be tied to sticks. The tomato-like fruits are wrapped in lanterns; fall to the ground when ripe and can then be collected. This traditional Mexican vegetable is mostly used as a basis for sauces and chutneys seasoned with chili and coriander, but also for jam, compote and sour pickling. Ripe fruits can also be eaten raw.
