(wool or fabric comb) 150 cm in height, biennial

Sow: May – July

Bloom: July – August

Height: 150 cm

The prickly, dried inflorescence was once used for carding (combing) wool and for roughening woolen fabric. Undemanding, thistly plant which attracts many insects with its violet bloom. The leaves form deep recesses where dew and rainwater collect – offering replenishment to insects and birds. A decorative ornamental plant and dried flower.
