Green smoothie with spinach and cress

Green smoothies consist of sweet fruits like apples or bananas, green leafy vegetables like lettuce or spinach, and clean water. The fruits give the smoothie its pleasantly sweet taste and the plant green contains particularly high levels of vitamins, minerals, trace elements and secondary plant compounds. They are prepared in no time and provide highly concentrated vital and nutrients in their most natural form.

The ingredients for a delicious smoothie with spinach and garden cress:

  • 1/2 small bowl of cress
  • 45 g fresh spinach (or 60 g frozen spinach)
  • 1/2 Mango
  • 80 g Grapes
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Pear (soft)
  • some water (until it has the desired degree of liquid)

First puree the spinach, cress and water finely, then add the fruits and continue to puree. This makes the green smoothie nice and creamy. Depending on how much water you add, the smoothies will be thinner or thicker.

Green leafy vegetables make the body alkaline and strengthen the immune system. It contains a lot of chlorophyll and thus promotes wound healing and is effective against toxins in the body. Likewise, the green food is odour-neutralizing (bad breath and body odour), cleans the intestines, helps against inflammation and much more. You see, it is worthwhile to consume green food regularly.

“Green ingredients” for green smoothies:

Spinach brings a pleasantly mild aroma to the green smoothie. It is only slightly noticeable in taste and ensures a rich green in the smoothie. Spinach is therefore the ideal ingredient for making bright green or color-intensive smoothies.

Along with spinach, lamb’s lettuce is the most common vegetable used in green smoothies. It has a particularly mild taste and is hardly noticeable.

Kale is an excellent vegetable for use in healthy vegetable smoothies. The fruit masks the taste of cabbage that takes some getting used to and is even suitable for people who do not like kale.

Cucumbers manage to bring a certain freshness and lightness to the smoothies. Cucumbers are also particularly easy to digest and ideal for smoothie beginners.

Butterhead lettuce has no taste of its own. This makes it possible to prepare particularly mild smoothies, in which the fruit, for example, stands out in taste.

There is no limit to the imagination when it comes to herbs. Basil, parsley, garden cress, cinnamon basil, lemon basil, lemon balm, … are additional ingredients that fit in very well with regard to taste.
